Chalking at Figment this weekend

Urban Canvas @ Figment THIS WEEKEND

We'll be at Figment this Saturday and Sunday and we'd love for you to come hang with us. Urban Canvas, our street art group, will be chalking up the sidewalks and we could really use some help. Even though being sanctioned means the thrill from possibly being arrested is gone, it's still chalktastic. I said chalktastic. That's how you know we are hardcore. Join our chalk gang! All the cool kids will be doing it.

If you've never worked with us before, know that you don't need to be an artiste to help out... let alone have any artistic talent (which is all in the eye of the beholder anyway). It's all about using chalk as a unique tool to engage passersby in creative ways and just have a good time. Find us in

Dewey Square
11am to 5pm
7/27 & 7/28

Bricks + Pixel Art = Brixel Art!

This past weekend, Urban Canvas ninjas NB and Em took advantage of the warm weather and descended upon the Parkman Bandstand at Boston Common.  With chalk in hand and a desire to color the area sidewalks, we soon found inspiration in the repetitive pattern of the brickwork around the pavilion.  What we created turned into a pixel artwork of sorts... using the bricks (pixels+bricks= 'brixels,' natch), we began creating a few arcade-style ghosts... and before we knew it, we were creating a larger-than-life Pacman game!

Midnight Marathon 2013

Five years ago, Boston cyclist, Greg Hum, thought it would be kind of awesome to take the train out of the city the night before the Boston Marathon and bike the entire route back. So did his friends, and word spread. Last year over 700 cyclists got together to do the annual ride. On Monday, April 8th, 700 tickets for the 5th annual Boston Midnight Marathon Bike Ride go on sale at South Station.

Since the Boston Marathon's start/finish lines and fancy mile markers will be set up, you'll feel just like you're running the marathon, except without all that silly cheering and running. This ride is BYOB (Bring Your Own Bike!).

Due to increased train ridership from the Red Sox game, the only way to get your bike on an evening train is with a Midnight Marathon ticket. You can pick up a ticket at the South Station ticket window. It is not available from any other stations nor the automated system.
